Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of our Christian brothers and sisters killed in the senseless shooting at the Emanuel A.M.E. church Bible Study in Charleston, S.C. last Wed. night.
We condemn the hatred that led to this evil act, and rejoice that the perpetrator was quickly caught to prevent further violence and to bring him to justice. May God bring healing and unity to the people of Charleston, and greater understanding to His children of all colors; and may the incredible message of forgiveness expressed by the families who have suffered loss be heard above all.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: “Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”
Jesus even prayed for His killers:
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
May we find the grace to forgive and to love one another as Jesus taught and modeled for us.
