A New Season

A New Season

I’m ready for a new season, how about you?  Weather-wise, political-wise, personal life-wise – I’m ready for a change.  It’s been a long, hot, humid summer; our country and our economy are a mess; and months of renovations at our house have taken a toll (What’s the best thing about remodeling?  When it’s over!).  I’m ready for a new season!  Maybe you are, too.

Churches go through seasons.  Summer can be challenging, with so many people away on trips (or recovering from COVID).  But summer is about over, kids are going back to school, and God has once again carried us through.  Worship attendance has been up for the last month, offerings have been good, and there have been steady decisions, including 2 baptisms at our Beach Day (which was AWESOME – great weather, a great turnout of 120, and a great ending with a giant prayer circle and 2 baptisms in the ocean, PTL!)  I also got to baptize my granddaughter here this summer, which was special!

When does fall begin? Meteorologically, it’s Sept. 1; astronomically, it’s Sept. 22; back east, it’s when the leaves turn color and fall; but for many people, Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of summer and beginning of the fall season.  This Sunday will be the last Sunday of our summer season at Lighthouse.  Our timely sermon series on Hearing Your Concerns will wrap up this Sunday with “Lord of My Future.”  I’m excited about it, and hope you can join us.  This has been a great series – thanks to all who submitted your top concern for God’s Word to address. Then what?

Lighthouse’s Fall Kickoff is right around the corner on Sunday, Sept. 11.  We invite everyone, including you, to join us as we begin a new season together, including:

  • Jeff Anderson leading worship in both our 9:00 & 10:30 a.m. services. Jeff is a great singer and musician with a dynamic style that really connects with worshipers – you might remember him leading here at the end of 2018, including 2 memorable Christmas Eve services.  Be sure to join us for this special worship experience and use your invitations to invite others!
  • New sermon series will begin Sept. 11, called Changed! looking at the lives that were changed by God in the book of Acts – who God used, how they were changed, and what was the result? Lighthouse is here to change lives for Christ.  If your life has been changed and you would be willing to share your testimony one Sunday, call, text, or email me at: mike@lightcc.org.
  • A Fellowship Luncheon will be catered by Enzo’s BBQ after each service, with seatings on our patio at 11:35 a.m. and Noon. You can get your meal tickets after each service on Sunday or through our office during the week for a delicious meal on our beautiful patio.  Plan to join us for good food & fellowship with your church family.
  • Growth Groups kick off the week of Sept. 11, with many opportunities to grow in your knowledge of God’s Word and your relationship with other Christians. I invite any men who would like to join our men’s group on Wed. nights at our new time of 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the church for great fellowship, our new study Be Disciples with video teaching by Rick Burgess, and small group application; we’ll kick off Sept. 14th with games on our church patio, refreshments, and an introduction to our series.  There are groups for women and children also Wed. night, as well as many other growth opportunities for all ages on Sunday morning & throughout the week.  Consider a Growth Group this season.

A wise man observed: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (RSV)

Let this be a new season for you!
