Hey Young Adults, Parents, Students, and anyone else reading this,

I know this season of life has been anything but easy for many of us.  There is uncertainty, fear and anxiety that can creep into every facet of our lives.  We may be feeling sick and become panic stricken.  We may lose our job and become anxious about the future.  We may be feeling fine but are uncertain as to if we should go out and buy groceries for our elderly neighbors.  We may be trying to make wise decisions and focus on our classes but can’t seem to remain disciplined in this new way of doing schoolwork.  While the circumstances we find ourselves in may be new, the propensity of our hearts to fear and uncertainty is not.  Philippians 4:4-9 is a passage of scripture I would strongly encourage you to meditate on during this and any period of time you feel anxious.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.  Let your reasonableness be known to everyone.  The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.  What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”  Philippians 4:4-9

Think deeply on these verses and let the God who wrote them reveal Himself to you.  Think about who He is, think about His faithfulness and character and how awesome He has been throughout all of scripture.  He is worthy of thinking about over and above whatever else may be fighting for your thoughts.  I am praying for you, and let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

In His Grip,

Scott Hoerner
