201-401 DISCOVERY CLASSES (NEXT SESSION BEGINS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2022)

201 — Discovering Spiritual Maturity

DAY / TIME LOCATION LEADER
Sunday, 10:30AM Church, Room 4 Bob Fender

Spiritual growth is not so much about “doing” as it is about “becoming” – becoming more like Christ. It’s a life-long adventure that takes patience, commitment, and intentional focus. It’s not what we do along the way that is most important. What really matters is who we are becoming in the process. Ultimately, the Christian life is about building an intimate relationship with Jesus as the Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out, and loving others the way Jesus loves us.  We invite you to explore the various opportunities we offer to help you take your next steps of spiritual growth.

301 — Discovering My Ministry

When we become a Christian, God gives us salvation and the hope of eternity in Heaven. He also gives us purpose and significance in our lives. He has given each of us the opportunity to serve others and make a real difference in our community. When you serve others in Jesus’ name, you’re ministering.  God has shaped us with individual gifts and talents that are to be used to support the Body of Christ. Discover your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences in life that can be used by God to mold you for service.

401 — Discovering My Life Mission

You were made for a mission. God is at work in the world, and He wants you to join Him. God wants you to share His love where you are. As a student, mother, teacher, salesman, manager, or whatever you do, God wants you to reach out to the people in your life. That might mean inviting a friend to church or showing love to those in need around you.  God invites you to participate in the greatest, largest, most diverse, and most significant cause in history – His kingdom. The opportunities for normal, everyday Christians to become involved in short-term international missions are now limitless. Every corner of the world is available to you. You were saved to serve and made to go out and spread the Good News.

AGAPE CLASS

DAY / TIME LOCATION LEADER
Sundays, 10:30AM Church, Rooms 5 & 6 Gil Maza

Current Study:  GOSPEL: Meeting the Jesus You Think You Know

A minute by minute journey through all four gospels in the exact order and timeline the events in the life of Jesus actually happened.  If you think you know the Life of Jesus, think again!

BYKOTA CLASS

DAY / TIME LOCATION LEADER
Sundays, 10:30AM Church, Room 7 Kelly Brown

Current Study:  The Book of Acts

Aside from the four Gospels, probably no other book of the New Testament is more important than the book of Acts.  Acts is the history of the church from its birth to its establishment from one end of the Roman Empire to the other.  But Acts is more than history.  It is the church in action; it is doctrine by example; it is growth during persecution; it is contention, confrontation, evangelism, shipwrecks, and victory in Jesus.

LIGHTHOUSE BASICS 101 CLASS

DAY / TIME LOCATION LEADER

Sunday (every other month) 12:30PM – 2:00PM Church, Rooms 5 & 6 Pastor Mike Openshaw

Children's Ministries

Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’  Matthew 19:14

We love kids at Lighthouse Christian Church!  It is the mission of the Children’s Ministry to allow children to know Christ and to make Him known in a  safe and loving atmosphere.  The first part of our mission is accomplished by providing Bible-based material in all classes.  The second part is met by providing approved and committed teachers and helpers.

Security is a high priority!  Parents check in children at Check-In Stations located in the hallways outside classrooms to receive their child’s name tag, child pick-up receipt and an info label to give the teacher.   In the event you are needed, your child’s number will appear on the visual pager located in each room.  A child is released only to those with a pick-up receipt.  Background screenings are run on ALL adult volunteers working with children.

Sundays 10:30AM Church, Room 12

Our Sunday morning children’s program – 252 Basics – is named for the Bible verse found in Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”  When you see the word “basics” in the title, well, you sort of think foundational, essential, right?  That’s what 252 Basics does—it equips kids from first through fifth grade with these three basic truths:  (1) I need to make the wise choice; (2) I can trust God no matter what; (3) I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

GriefShare

GRIEFSHARE (NEXT CLASS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 13, 2021)

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now.  If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.

This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.

Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:
Video seminar with experts
Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects.  These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video.
Support group discussion with focus

After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.

Personal study and reflection
During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling.  Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

GriefShare support group meets weekly on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.  The next class begins September 13, 2021.  REGISTER HERE.

TUESDAYS
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY BREAKFAST – THE BOOK OF COLOSSIANS
Day / Time Location Leader

Tuesday, 7:30AM IHOP Restaurant, 4253 Oceanside Blvd., Oceanside, CA Lee Gillogly

All men are invited for fellowship, food, prayer and Bible study in the book of Colossians.  The Letter to the Colossians addresses several heresies being presented to the church at Colossae.  At the core of these false teachings was a misunderstanding of the nature of Jesus Christ and His work.  Paul points to both the deity and humanity of Christ and how the realities of Christ’s identity should impact how people live in practical ways.  Come join us!  What a great way to begin your day.  For more information, contact Lee Gillogly 760-631-1831.

“THE FORGOTTEN GOD”
Day / Time Location Leader

Tuesday, 10:00AM Church, Room 5 Jerry Carey

In the name of the Father, the Son, and… the Holy Spirit.  We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two?  As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit–the Helper–so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ.  Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it.  Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church’s power–the Holy Spirit.  Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results.  Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

REVELATION DECODED
Day / Time Location Leader

Tuesday, 6:00PM Church, Rooms 5 & 6 Gil Maza

Confused by the endless speculation about the End Times?  Frustrated at how often predictions about the rapture, the antichrist, and the mark of the Beast have failed decade after decade, even by some of the most popular Bible teachers?  Is it even possible to actually understand the Words of Jesus as revealed to the Apostle John?  The answer is YES.  Join us as we legitimately “decode” Revelation once and for all.

WEDNESDAYS (Childcare provided for infants thru grade 5)
“REAL MEN” SERIES (MEN’S GROUP)

“TRAVELING LIGHT” BY MAX LUCADO (WOMEN’S STUDY)
Day / Time Location Leader

Wednesday, 6:00PM Church Sanctuary Andrea Openshaw & Georgia Allen

Weary travelers.  You’ve seen them – everything they own crammed into their luggage.  Staggering through terminals and hotel lobbies with overstuffed suitcases, trunks, duffels, and backpacks.  Backs ache.  Fee burn.  Eyelids droop.  We’ve all seen people like that.  At times, we are people like that – if not with our physical luggage, then at least with our spiritual load.  We all lug loads we were never intended to carry.  Fear.  Worry.  Discontent.  No wonder we get so weary.  We’re worn out from carrying that excess baggage.  Wouldn’t it be nice to lose some of those bags?  That’s the invitation of Max Lucado.  With the Twenty-third Psalm as our guide, let’s release some of the burdens we were never intended to bear.  Using these verse as a guide, Max Lucado walks us through a helpful inventory of our burdens.  May God use this Psalm to remind you to release the burdens you were never meant to bear.

FALL 2021 SESSION – SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER
BI-MONTHLY WEDNESDAYS, 9:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

After a year spent hunkering down, living smaller, and experiencing a little more fear and anxiety than usual, we are declaring this is the year of going big. It’s a year of fresh starts and turning ordinary experiences into extraordinary ones. Enthusiasm will replace worry. Friendship will replace loneliness. No longer will we wait to “get back to normal”; instead, we will start making space for the new things God has for us. We will become less guarded and more daring because this is our year to live All For Love. This year, love will save us. In fact, it already has, because love’s name is Jesus.

If you are a mom of a little one (birth thru K), you are invited to join us for MOPS! Meetings include a hot breakfast, presentation, discussion & something creative! Childcare included at no extra charge. It is a sisterhood of wonderful moms in this area who love to live life together. There’s always room for one more!
