God is Good!!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”  Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

By the time you read this, we will have walked into 2022.  As I sit here on a Thursday just a few days before New Year’s Day, I cannot help but think how quickly this year has gone by.  God has given my bride, Sharon, and me life and good health this year and we have added a small dog named Daisy to our growing family.  Who would have known that Shih Tzu dogs could be such a handful?  This year has been packed with both victories and challenges.  We are so grateful to our church community at Lighthouse and are so thankful for your prayers, kind words, and gifts throughout the year.  Our words cannot express our gratitude to such a loving and friendly church family.  And God has been so good to us!

Regarding ministry, we have kept the worship community moving forward.  At the beginning of this year we were still meeting outside, which meant that I would show up with some of our worship team members at 6:45am every Sunday morning to set up the audio system and musical instruments and then tear them down after our second service.  We had been doing that since May 2020.  Once we moved back into the building a few months later, we were able to update our service times and continue the worship community growth and development – from working and seeing our adult choir grow, resuming in-person rehearsals, to helping coach some of our youth and young adult worship leaders and musicians.

So how great or challenging was 2021 for you?  Perhaps it was a year you never anticipated or surprised you in ways that are still affecting you today.  How has your faith grown or not?  What are you doing to get closer to God?  Or how are you pushing your family and friends closer to God?  As we know Christ and make him known, take this year to pursue God in ways you never have by worshiping him for who He is and what He has done.  Be in a community of people that would love you, grow you, and hold you accountable to your goals and boundaries via a Bible study or small group.  Unleash compassion through service projects like CARE Bags, Pathway Health Clinic, Operation Hope, or Seekers International Foundation.  Go change the world!

Let’s continue partnering together as we transform Oceanside with the hope of Jesus Christ in 2022!  Join me for “LIVE WITH BASILIO!” online on Wednesdays at 4pm via Facebook Live (facebook.com/lccoo/live) starting again on January 12, 2022.  This is for everyone!
