Trade in “blessings” for True Blessings
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heat, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted those prophets who were before you.”
Keep in mind what we call blessings. We often say we are blessed when we have health, material security, and everything is going well for us. True blessings are when we are broken, humble, and fully dependent on God. When we trust in Christ as our only hope, then scripture says we are blessed. It is because to be in Christ, is to have the best. Do not be lulled into an American Dream of Christianity, for the two are not compatible. Ephesians 5:14 says “Awake O sleeper, and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you.” Let us wake up fully devoted to our Lord and walking in what He calls blessings.
Trade in what you can never keep for that which you can never lose.
