What if Jesus Meant What He Said…
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
Sometimes, if I am willing to be honest with myself, what I say I believe with my mouth, does not always match up with what I say I believe with my life. The way we live our lives and use our time says more about what we believe than our words ever will. We need to consider what is as stake brothers and sisters, because if we do not no one else will. Let us be people of passion for the good news of Jesus as we reflect on it ourselves and share it with others. Let us hunger for the Bible and be devoted to praying to the Lord for lost men and women. We must take Jesus seriously, because what He did for us does not end with us but invites us into His bigger plan of salvation and redemption for the world.
“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for.” – Charles H. Spurgeon
We must take seriously that Jesus is the only way, and that our fellowman will suffer without Him. We must be broken over the condition of lost souls, not for a more comfortable world, but for revived lives. That we know Jesus as Lord is the biggest grace, and to hold Him only for ourselves is a horror. Be grieved my friend for your lost neighbors. Share your life in Christ with them, and pray, pray that the Lord would do a mighty work to bring them into His arms.
If you want to talk more about discipleship (walking alongside others as they grow in Christ) and evangelism (sharing your faith in Christ and inviting others to place their hope in Him as well) please reach out to me, I would love to talk! Scott@lightcc.org
