REASONS TO CELEBRATE!

REASONS TO CELEBRATE!

Happy Easter!  Jesus’s followers had many reasons to celebrate that first Easter season, and so do we!  Their Easter week began with a big celebration on Palm Sunday as Jesus rode victoriously into Jerusalem on a donkey as their long-awaited Savior-King.  The people
honored Him with palm branches and shouts of praise.
Then many memorable things happened that historic week, leading up to Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins on the day we call Good Friday.  It was a somber day as they laid Jesus’ body to rest in a borrowed tomb.
But their grief turned to unbelievable joy at the news that Jesus had risen from the dead that first Easter Sunday!  All who met the risen Lord were never the same again.  This Good News, along with the coming of the Holy Spirit, fueled the life and growth of the early church, which continued celebrating these history-changing events around the world in many cultures and languages, to this very day.
So now it’s our turn to celebrate!
Palm Sunday Celebration Services are this Sunday, April 10, with exciting worship at both our 9:00 a.m.  Traditional service and our 10:30 a.m. Contemporary service.  The Adult Choir will share special music at the 9:00 service, Christian Clark’s mother (a gifted musician) will be singing at the 10:30 service, and the Children’s Choir will be singing at both services.  There will be a fun lesson and palms for the kids in Children’s Worship both hours, and I’ve got a great sermon from John ch. 12 called “Why Can’t Everyone Celebrate Jesus?”  I want to invite you and your friends and family to come celebrate Jesus with us on this special day!
A Good Friday Service will be held April 15 @ 7:00 p.m. to remember the Lord on the day He gave His life for us.  This moving service will include a blend of traditional and contemporary worship, our choir, my message from John 18-19 about what our Lord did for us that day, and remembrance of Him through communion.  Don’t miss this special service!
Our Community Easter Egg Hunt will return on Sat., April 16, from 10:00 a.m.-Noon on our church patio & lawn.  Inviting all parents of children 2 years-5th grade to bring your child and a basket, and to invite your neighbors and friends for this fun, free outing with a well-organized Egg Hunt, Jumpers & Slide, Food, Games, Easter Crafts, and our newly redone children’s Playground.  We are excited to bring this community outreach back after a 2-year hiatus, so come enjoy a fun, safe & beautiful morning!  To help or donate needed items, contact: andrea@lightcc.org.
Easter Sunday Services begin on April 17 with an Outdoor Service on our beautiful patio at 7:30 a.m. with the best view in town; we provide  chairs and patio heaters, but bring a jacket or sweater just in case.  This is a great way to start your Easter, and makes room for more people at the indoor services, if you can join us at 7:30.  Then our indoor services include a 9:00 a.m. Traditional Easter service, and a 10:30 a.m. Contemporary Easter Celebration.  The Children’s Choir will be singing at both indoor services, and my Easter message from John 20 will be the same at all 3 morning services.  There is a Kid’s Easter Celebration for children 3 yrs.-5th grade in their classrooms at 9:00 & 10:30 a.m. that includes an Easter lesson, games, crafts, and refreshments.  We encourage all believers to join us!
Our people worked hard and donated much to renew our church with repainting inside & out, new flooring, chairs, baptistry, roof, patio shade sail, playground, and more to get ready for Easter.  Now all we need is you!  Let’s all invite someone, and come help us celebrate!
